Member Spotlight: SADM Members strengthen ties in SEMO Dance Program
SADM Members Haylie Darland (Kinner & Co.), Katie Fudge (Ginny Mount School of Dance), and Jenna Tansky (Kinner & Co.) are all Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Dance majors in the Conservatory of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University. All three dancers have grown up attending SADM and have built a friendship that has taken then from two dance studios in differnt states and brought them together for college.
Haylie is a freshman, and Katie and Jenna are juniors within the program. The dance program offers classes in Modern, Jazz, Ballet, and Tap techniques, and in the next couple of semesters there will also be pointe technique and world dance classes offered. The dance program also holds two major dance concerts each semester, and they include faculty, student, and guest choreography works.
November 17th opens the school’s upcoming dance concert, Fall for Dance. Haylie, Katie, and Jenna all get to be a part of this fantastic show. Haylie is performing in a boy/girl duet choreographed by a student, in which the roles of a typical abusive relationship are reversed. Haylie and Jenna are performing in a comedic faculty piece that is a spoof on superheroes. They even get to perform this piece at a few events within the community, including a Comic Con convention, to promote Southeast’s dance program. Jenna and Katie were selected by the guest choreographer, Brenna Monroe-Cook of the Limón Dance Company, to perform A Choreographic Offering. The two got the opportunity to work with her for two weeks learning the historic piece choreographed by José Limón himself. Haylie, Katie, and Jenna are all three performing in a faculty choreographed contemporary ballet piece as well. The girls enjoy getting to dance together in this show and they look forward to future opportunities of dancing together.

CSM Spotlight: Allie Privett
Allie Privitt, a 15 year dance student with Bonnie’s School of Dance and a current SADM Certified Student Member, had the opportunity to be one of the 2016 Miss Tennessee Scholarship Pageant dancers this past June.
Not long after she crowned her successor at the 2016 Miss Tennessee’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, Allie knew she wanted to stay a part of the Miss Tennessee organization. What better way than to become part of the production?
She travelled to Memphis and auditioned to see if maybe there was a place for her alongside the Miss Tennessee dancers. She and five other dancers from Performing Arts of Germantown were selected and took the stage each night of the Miss Tennessee Pageant with an opening number to “Dancing in the Street,” a lifestyle/fitness number to “Uptown Funk”, and finale to “Never Can Say Goodbye” performed by Jasmine Murray and the live orchestra.
The quality of her dance was nourished thru hard work and dedication at her local studio under the direction, guidance, and encouragement of Ms. Bonnie Cagle, attending ballet forums & dance conventions such as Southern Association of Dance Masters, Chicago National Association of Dance Masters, Atlanta Jazz on Tap and many others throughout the years.
